Modern Slavery Statement for Man and a Van Clapham
Man and a Van Clapham is committed to conducting its business ethically, transparently, and with integrity in all relationships and operations. This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps we take, and will continue to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our business and our supply chains.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Man and a Van Clapham provides man and van services, removals, and related logistics support. Our activities rely on staff, vehicles, equipment, and a range of suppliers, including subcontracted drivers, vehicle hire companies, fuel providers, packaging material suppliers, and facilities and maintenance services. We recognise that modern slavery can occur in any sector and at any point in the supply chain, and we are committed to identifying and addressing any risks associated with our operations.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
We operate a clear, zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, human trafficking, servitude, and child labour. This applies to every aspect of our business and to all persons working for us or on our behalf, including employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers. We expect the same standards from all third parties we work with, and we will not knowingly engage with any organisation or individual involved in modern slavery practices.
Employment with Man and a Van Clapham is entirely voluntary. Our workers are free to leave their employment with reasonable notice, are paid fairly and in line with applicable laws, and work in safe conditions. We do not tolerate any form of exploitation, coercion, or abuse of vulnerability.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We understand that some of the greatest risks may sit within extended supply chains. To manage these risks, we are developing and implementing measures to assess and monitor suppliers, particularly where services are labour intensive or where we use subcontracted labour or specialist services.
Our supplier expectations are communicated through our terms of business and our ethical standards, which require suppliers to comply with all applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws, including those related to modern slavery. Where appropriate, we reserve the right to conduct supplier audits or request information about recruitment practices, working conditions, identity documentation, and payment arrangements.
If a supplier is found to be in breach of our modern slavery standards, we will seek to work with them to improve practices within a reasonable timeframe. However, we retain the right to suspend or terminate relationships with suppliers that fail to take adequate corrective action or that engage in serious or repeated violations.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing
We encourage an open culture in which concerns about modern slavery, poor working practices, or unethical behaviour can be raised without fear of retaliation. All workers, suppliers, and other stakeholders are encouraged to report any suspicion or evidence of modern slavery linked to Man and a Van Clapham or its supply chains.
Concerns can be raised with a line manager or senior manager in the first instance, or through any established internal reporting process. Reports can be made confidentially, and all concerns will be taken seriously, assessed promptly, and investigated where appropriate. We will not tolerate any form of victimisation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith.
Training, Awareness, and Responsibilities
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery rests with senior management, who ensure that appropriate procedures and guidance are in place and kept under review. Managers involved in procurement, recruitment, and supplier management are expected to understand modern slavery risks and to apply our policies consistently.
We are working to increase awareness among staff about the signs of modern slavery, such as unexplained deduction of wages, restriction of movement or communication, withholding of identity documents, or indications of coercion and intimidation. Employees are reminded that they have a responsibility to speak up if they suspect any such practices.
Annual Review and Continuous Improvement
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least annually by senior management to ensure it remains effective, relevant, and aligned with legal requirements and good practice. As part of the review, we will consider any incidents reported, outcomes of supplier assessments, and any changes in the nature of our business or supply chains.
Where necessary, we will update our policies, supplier requirements, and training materials to strengthen our approach. Through continual improvement and consistent application of this Statement, Man and a Van Clapham aims to reduce the risk of modern slavery within our operations and supply network.
This Statement has been approved by the management of Man and a Van Clapham and represents our ongoing commitment to responsible and ethical business conduct.
